Vocational Counselor

  • Development food safety Chef working in a hotel owned by the  Lewis Partnership, jobs included planning and evaluation of menus, including special dietary requirements, assisting in the smooth running of the food production kitchens, receiving and storing dry, chilled & wet goods including non food items and overseeing the correct stock control system of all inward and outward goods, also reordering of supplies working closely with large suppliers carrying out health and safety monitoring including the development of a HACCP system and standard recipes.
  • Other duties included training of new staff in their departments including basic food hygiene.
  • I also represented the Hotel as a branch counselor at monthly meeting off site reporting local issues and feeding back national issues to staff, this included sitting on the panel of the HACCP team and generally advising the kitchen of current food safety law.

Vocational Counselor

  • I was reasonable for a total case load of 34 candidates both commercial and funded candidates working towards both Catering and Hospitality and customer service National Vocational Qualifications, my main duties were to give help and support via portfolio building and issuing guidance to diverse evidence collection to prove competence in units and elements of the NVQ.
  • Other duties included the correct completion of the Learning Skills Council (LSC) paperwork and working closely with the awarding body.
  • I also gave candidates and colleague’s guidance and support with key skills, which completes the framework to complete the qualification.
  • Additional tasks include the delivery of short courses in Food hygiene offered by the Chartered Institution of Environmental Health Officers, I was assigned Centre strand Three person whom delivered and monitored the off the job training to all LSC funded candidates, to aid this role I worked working towards my TDLB level four qualification.
  • I have delivered customer service, warehousing, management and advice and guidance NVQ’s to level three in the workplace to both funded and commercial candidates I have been involved with the Adult Learning Inspection of the Company Spring Skills, I was responsible for communicating the regional business plan and holding pre inspection workshops for all the Soc routes under inspection.
  • I updated my occupational competence within Greggs Bakery penrtih for both craft bakery and warehousing.
  • Personally my soc area Craft Bakery FMA scored a highly against all other sectors, following the inspection I have been active in the review of assessment practices, Internal Verification procedures and learner selection and recruitment onto the correct program.
  • I choose to leave the work based training sector to pursue my career aim of Catering Manager.

  • I am responsible for the management of the NHS three main sites hotel services departments in Morecambe Bay, Tasks involved with this post include selection and recruitment of staff, ongoing training of staff, planning, monitoring of physical resources and ensuring the correct documentation throughout the production operation so that there is a clear and actuate audit trail of documentation for the internal and external legal bodies.
  • I have supported the department through their recognition of Investors in People and have a valued interest in the ongoing development of my 72 staff; I am an appointed link person for the NHS learning account distribution and am the centre IV for the Morecambe Bay NHS Trust.
  • I lead a team of managers to achieved core NHS standards and manage a number of cost centres to the Value of 2.5 million.
  • I lead on capital, pressure and local budget planning. I am a course director with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health division , I am approved to deliver Level Two Food hygiene certification at a national level – this is a transferable credit. I manage the NHS warehouse stock materials management group which includes stock on demand for NHS health care units in the north west, I work with NHS Buyers, logistics DHL teams, picking teams for food and non food from within the warehousing stock.
