Locum Pharmacist
- I am employed to cover all of the surgical wards which include gastrointestinal, gynaecological, urology, colorectal, breast, vascular and oncology. I deal with all of the important issues, e.g. PONV, pain relief, antibiotic prophylaxis and thromboprophylaxis.
- Each day I am involved in working within the multi-disciplinary Surgical Team including the Pain Nurse Specialist, the dietician, physiotherapist and doctors.
- I have particular involvement with TPN prescriptions and pain management for complicated patients with multiple co-morbidities. I work alongside the MacMillan nurse and often advise on choice and dose of analgesia.
- Within my role as surgical pharmacist I also have students who shadow me on the ward, which involves teaching them about all the important considerations in surgical pharmacy.

- I was employed as a Locum Pharmacist to cover both wards and dispensary duties. I also covered The Walton Centre for Neurology.
- In providing a Pharmacy service to the Walton Centre, it allowed me to advance my skills and knowledge in the wide range of medications used to treat the many varied neurological disorders seen at this specialist centre.
- I also covered a large gastrointestinal ward and a respiratory ward, including non-invasive ventilation and CPAP.
