Payroll Team Manager
- I work closely with the Head of Payroll and Pensions to develop the payroll team for external clients, West (contact details removed) PCT, (contact details removed) Primary Care Agency and Queen (contact details removed) Hospital Foundation Trust to provide a high quality, comprehensive and cost-effective payroll service.
- I supervise a team of 5 payroll clerical officers, updating records where necessary for pay awards, employee annual increments and changes to employee deductions. I ensure that procedures and controls are in place to enable provision of an accurate payroll that meets the required deadline.
- I have an extensive working knowledge of income tax, national insurance, statutory sick pay and statutory maternity pay. I also authorise advance payments where appropriate.
- I ensure compliance with all statutory payroll regulations, NHS pay and terms of conditions. I ensure that any adjustments where necessary are made to the payroll database prior to the end of year reports being produced. I managed my own workload and planned my team’s workload in an effective and timely manner.

- Worked as part of a team ensuring an accurate payroll was produced according to defined deadlines for the Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and its predecessor Trusts. The role required extensive knowledge of Statutory requirements for payroll, NHS terms and conditions of service. I used the electronic staff record system and PReMis computerised payroll systems to ensure that employees were paid accurately to strict deadlines.
- I managed my own workload and was required to complete complex calculations both electronically and manually when adjustments were required. I maintained accurate employee records and undertook regular training to ensure that I kept up to date with all new statutory regulations and NHS directives that affected pay.
