Tell me about yourself?

Applicant should briefly answer about his educational background, occupational experience, his hobbies and interests, his future vision and he/ she has been centered around preparing himself/herself to become the very best ________(What the job position is for) I can become.

Why should I hire you?

Candidate should be very confident in his/her answer and mention that he/she thinks that employer should hire him/her because he/she is the best suitable person for this job. He/She can also add that there are many other college students who can do the same kind of job, but to add to that he/she brings in additional qualities like attitude to excellence, go winner attitude, highly discipline, and high on honesty and integrity, quick learner. Most importantly, I would like to start my career from a respectable organization like yours.

What is your greatest weakness?

I would say my greatest weakness has been my lack of proper planning in the past. I would over commit myself to various tasks as I like to do different types of jobs in my field to learn different things, due to this interest and curiosity in learning new things, is making me not able to complete the given tasks at a committed time.

What are the important things you think one requires to be in Customer Service Department?

Candidate should answer that a person needs to be an active listener by giving full attention to detail on what others are saying and understand the customer’s problem or point of view. Communicating well, so that his/her message is conveyed effectively, patience; good modulate tone of voice to please the customers always.

On a scale of 1 to 10, what is your motivation level?

Candidate should say it is 8, because mostly my motivation levels are high all the times. I remember my school and college days, I always used to motivate my team members in winning the basket ball match…no matter how much scores  we have scored till now,  but its highly important to stay motivated to keep it going. Am a self motivator and can motivate my peers and colleagues too.

If you are in a situation, where a customer is sitting in front of you and you need to take a quick immediate decision which you are not too sure of, what would you do?

Applicant should answer that given a case that he/she needs to take a quick immediate decision in front of a customer; he/she would evaluate the information to determine compliance with standards to the company. Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether those decision, event, or views comply with rules, regulations and laws of the company or not, he/she would take a quick decision and ensure that its made a note of in front of the customer itself, so that in future customer should not come back with same problem or complaining some error with associate.

Will you be able to sell this pencil for me and convince me on buying this?

Applicant should be careful before answering this question to the interviewer as employer here is looking for your selling skills, interviewer will be watching the candidate’s body language, and how much he/she is involving customer here and thinking from customer point of view. Remember one thing that in any service or sales based industry, customer is the king. Interviewer will also be looking for price strategies which he/she will be suggesting to the customer who is interviewer in this case. So get the conversation very interactive and ensure that you are addressing all the customer issues and concerns here, in this case your interviewer will be your customer. Important thing is not to get panic and be very confident in your product and services, and not to give up at any point of time.

How would you handle it if your boss criticizes your work?

In this case, applicant should not become cautious or defensive about the question. Instead he/she should answer that firstly I would have a discussion with my boss and would like to know my mistakes and justify my reasons for the mistakes. However, I will give confidence to my boss that in future I will ensure that such mistakes don’t happen and I would learn from my mistakes and take it in a positive way. At the end of the conversation with my boss, I would thank him/her for sharing that information with me and identifying my mistakes in my work.

Share a problem that you have faced in your recent past and how did you overcome that problem?

Here applicant should understand that interviewer is looking for his/her problem solving skills and testing your critical thinking capabilities. Applicant should answer that he/she would take a systematic approach for the problem and gather all the relevant information and would firstly identify the problem and would start coming up with solutions which would be suitable for all the concerned people.

What is your view on working with a team giving better and faster results than working individually?

Candidate should answer that, sure team work always counts more and its definitely gives faster and better results for the sheer reason that more people are involved for better share of ideas and more people are involved for faster results. But I have worked both individually and in teams before and have enjoyed both equally. Usually when it is team, I make sure that I get everybody involved and will have a brain storming and will get everybody coming up with new solutions. The creativity of a team of people are always better than one person’s idea. So, given a chance, I would make sure to be effective in a team, however am myself a good dedicated worker individually.
