Hardware Engineer

2010-Present

• Working as a hardware engineer in the server electrical validation area.
• Fully familiar with parallel interfaces, especially in FSB (Processor) and DDR (Memory) interfaces. And some serial interfaces like PCIe, SATA, etc.
• Active role on the latest release of Intel server processor for MP and UP platforms (i.e Xeon processors and Nehalem aka I7 and I5 on the market).
• In charge of coordinate and purchase all the tools, materials, platforms, etc. needed for the project. Managing the entire budget from the project destined for materials.
• Fully involve on DDR3 validation in Nehalem Intel processors for UP server, desktop and laptop.
• Active role on several projects for CPUs and chipsets for Intel, working in multiple interfaces planning, validating, debugging and coordinating technicians, engineers and interns.
• Use automation tools to speed up the execution for the technicians and reduce the human error.
• Fully automate the entire tests needed on validation in order to cover as much scenarios as possible, enable multiple platforms to work on parallel, reduce human error, use exactly same methodology and let the platforms work overnight.
• Develop scripts for automation tests in order to use our hardware and software tools automatically and have a robust system and methodology of execution.

2004-2009

• I started the business with a colleague in South Africa the main emphasis was supporting home users and small businesses.
• Purchasing of computer related parts and assembly, to a user’s requirements; this also entailed repairing and upgrading different forms of I.T related hardware.
• Printers and monitors were repaired in house; this was done to component level.
• Advertising and sales were a key requirement in gaining new customers, coupled with excellent customer service and care.
• We were also a micro distributor for Rectron (Pty Ltd) this encompassed all manner of I.T products.
• I was responsible for the hosting and domain creation of our business web site, this also had an online ordering system for customers to order from us. Was also involved with setting up of Windows NT servers and client pc`s for small business, and back office products. I am well versed on various network topologies and protocols.
• Having configured many computers on Novell (NDS) and Win based networks.
