Career Achievements

  • My design work and existing style development led to the company being awarded a design award from leading members of the continence industries for our latest innovative design of ladies briefs.
  • Managing stock levels and aiding in customer relations and sales work, within programmes such as Excel, has increased my knowledge of running a small lingerie business and the difficulties faced by smaller businesses with less pulling power within the market.
  • I have also enjoyed the business management and financial awareness aspect of my job role, which involved putting together purchase orders and invoices creating formulated spreadsheets and representative graphs.
  • Thorough understanding of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, using these packages within all of my project work. Basic knowledge of Tex Design and Mapper, used within C.A.D module.

  • Designing corporate wear for a number of major high street retailers including The Body Shop,  Lewis and Waitrose.
  • Successfully communicating design boards to clients, and pitch ideas to people at various levels in an organisation.
  • As main contact with the client, co-ordinating the development of samples and bulk production with the technical team, ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • Producing detailed garment specifications and liaising with offshore manufacturers in the Far East to produce products of a high standard.
  • Sourcing new fabric and trim suppliers, helping the company to reduce costs.
  • Designing company graphics and presentation material.

ARTEMISIA DISEGNI – Como, Italy

Designer

  • One of only five design graduates selected to participate in a prestigious Graduates in Italy Programme, working with Italian designers in a print studio to produce original designs.
  • Language training: Learned the Italian language and was able to communicate effectively to my Italian colleagues, integrating into a new environment and adapting to new work practices.
  • Interpreted trend information and translated this into commercial fabric and t-shirt design ideas for the studio’s collection, producing each unique design by hand.
  • Customized clothing, incorporating print with other hand finishes.
  • My design ideas were sold at international trade shows.
