July 2008 – Present Head of Information Security
Provident Financial
- Brought into Provident to Head up the new Information Security function. Originally reporting to Head of IT Governance, the governance role has now been moved into my area of expertise.
- Currently working on positioning Information Risk and IT Security as a Board remit, to Group Board. Responsible for the overall security of this multi-site operation, with a team of 5.
- Post Audit, launched a full ISMS framework (to the guidelines of IS) to the enterprise, via various media – Newsletters, portal, intranet, online learning, etc. and running awareness campaigns via HR and Induction forums to ensure compliance.
- Championing DPA and PCI-DSS awareness and mitigation, enterprise-wide, as none has existed prior. Providing point of reference for all DPA enquiries, both 3rd party and Customer driven.
- In the process of creating full incident management processes, together with digital investigation and technical consultancy to the group.
2006 – to 2008

TD Waterhouse Investor Services
- Working directly for the Senior VP of IT for this call centre and internet based broking and e-banking arm of one of the largest banks in Canada, I have full responsibility for Information Security in Europe and am part of the global working party implementing IS (27001) standards across the business.
- Worked with senior colleagues throughout the European operations to improve all elements of the business process and to adapt and interpret the ISO standard in the context of the business to successfully develop security strategies across all aspects of operations.
- Secured a positive turn-around in comments on security in audit reports both internal and by regulatory bodies. In the last 24 months all internal and external audits have praised the Information Security function. 100% record in avoiding major incidents. This arguably puts us within the upper quartile of performers.
