Group Financial Controller

2009-Present

  • Head of Finance overseeing finance functions spanning the UK and the Far East.
  • Group of companies providing sourcing, logistics and distribution of soft furnishings to major UK retailers, the MOD, NHS, healthcare and nursing homes, universities and both domestic and international hotel groups.
  • Group turnover increased from £18m to £35m in over two years due to 2 acquisitions made and was responsible for introducing group consolidated accounts.
  • Provided group companies with central treasury, MIS reporting, payroll, budgeting and other central services.
  • First point of contact for banking and other external entities including auditors, insurance brokers and other professional service providers.
  • Dealt with offshore trust matters as group was ultimately owned by an offshore trust.
  • Facilitated transfer pricing arrangements, residency issues and made visits to Hong Kong, China, India, Pakistan and Guernsey as part of establishing arrangements, office procedures and build relationships with local financial controllers and management teams.

  • The group’s main activity consisted of acquisition of sites and then subsequent development of residential apartments, office space and commercial lettings.
